Nurse Hitty Eve

In Which I Begin my Nursing Career

About Three weeks ago, the Sunny State  Hittys were surprised to hear that Shirley, our adopted human, was sick.  I am new to this Hitty family, but I was told that aside from some seasonal allergies, Shirley was almost never sick and was free from any aches or pains.

A trip to the emergency room was made and doctors soon determined that it was her gall bladder.

A simple procedure was scheduled to remove it. However, things did not go as planned.  What was supposed to take only 20 minutes turned into a 2.5 hour major surgery.  According to the surgeon, less than 10% of people have a gallbladder situated as hers was and removing it was no easy matter.

The Sunny State Hittys are glad that we do not have such things to deal with and although we are carved with a knife, we only feel the loving touch of our creator.

Shirley had to spend eight days in the hospital, most of them in ICU.  She is home now but in need of much TLC.

As you may know, my carving mom is Amanda, Shirley's daughter.  I felt it only right that I should be her nurse.

Shirley says the best nurses must anticipate the needs of their patients.  They must give care with skill and efficiency yet they must do so with compassion.

I have got to go, my patient helped me write this and now she is all done in.  I must see that she gets her rest.
